Low Morale

Friday, September 29th, 2006

i had
lunch w/ some co-workers and i realized that people’s morale were
pretty low.  i guess that’s an understatement cuz we found out that
willy was leaving and everyone was really happy for him.  so we were
chatting and talked about some of the frustrating things at work.

willy: so i was gonna write this email to [my boss] but got halfway and decided not to send it…
ryan:
yea, i do that a lot.  every time something crappy happens, i write
this really long nasty email but then i end up not sending it and
saving it as a draft.
me: so how many do u have in ur draft folder?
ryan: at least half a dozen…
me: dang

so then we talked about working late…

jerry: yea, this isn’t the kind of job where u work 9-10 hrs every day.
sam: it’s more like get in at 10 leave at 5.
willy: well, there’s two chances of me working late.  slim and none.  and slim left town.

man, i love going to lunch w/ my co-workers.  makes me feel less bad about my job.

Fortunes

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

we
had a farewell lunch for debbie today and most of the engineering team
showed up.  as usual, it was a gripefest about things that weren’t
going super at the company.  one of my co-workers said he was so
frustrated that he felt like leaving.  not sure if he was serious or
not but it would suck cuz he’s good at his job.

anyways, we went
to a chinese restaurant and at the end of the meal was fortune
cookies.  sam opened his cookie and goes "OMG!  that is SO not true".
his fortune said: "you will be involved in many humantarian projects."
the co-worker who felt like leaving had left early so he didn’t get to
read his fortune.  so we opened his cookie anyways and it said "follow
your beliefs".  sam’s like "dude, let’s go bring him his fortune!"
